Lower area is partial shade transitioning to full sun at the top. Left to right is 10° from east-west longitude. There is a slight slope downward from the left side, becoming flat after about 10 feet
Lower-right has the most shade.
This is the latest expansion of a garden that has existed for 12 years. Soil is sandy loam and clay based. It has been mulched every year with composted materials from the kitchen and old grass clippings. Paths have been covered with wood chips or cardboard, to be later tilled in.
